Tampere Christmas Market at Central Square
The Tampere Christmas Market will open on 21.11. and invite you to enjoy yourself until 2.12.. From 21 to 27 November, some of the Christmas Market’s cottages and restaurants, such as the atmospheric Mulled Wine Restaurant, will be open.
The official opening of the Christmas Market will be celebrated on Saturday 28.11., from which time all the cottages and restaurants of the Christmas Market will be open until the end of the market.
Over the years, the programme stage of the Christmas Market has already presented hundreds of wonderful numbers. Tampere Christmas season opening, at city center and Central Square
The Christmas opening in the center of Tampere will be celebrated on Saturday 21.11.2026 from 4 pm to 6 pm. The Merry Christmas Parade is open to everyone (read more).
The Christmas parade and the lighting of the large Christmas tree at the Central Square is a memorable Christmas tradition for many. The traditional event brings together the residents of the area and offers a programme that suits the atmosphere.
The Christmas parade will start on Saturday, November 21, 2025 at 4 p.m. at the main library Metso, continuing all the way to the Central Square. You can follow the parade along the streets along the way and see the father Christmas, local elves, animals ja happy people.
Tallipiha Stable Yards, Kuninkaankatu 4
The wooden houses of Tallipiha hide a nostalgic café and shops with a lot to see and buy. The shops, which are open all year round, are in a special Christmas atmosphere 14.11.-23.12.2026.
The nostalgic café smells of mulled wine and freshly baked pastries. In the chocolate shop, the shelves are full of mouth-watering delicacies. On the courtyard terrace, you can enjoy sweet and savoury delicacies and glowing drinks. Christmas in the stable yard with its animals invites the little ones to the Christmas yard. Tampere Market Hall, Hämeenkatu 19
An atmospheric market hall with cafés and local delicacies operating in an Art Nouveau building completed in 1901. The Market Hall is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market hall is home to more than 30 companies specializing in diverse delicacies and handicrafts. Doghill Christmas, Särkänniemenraitti 3
At the Särkänniemi’s Doghill Christmas-event you can meet the animal friends of Koiramäki and play and do various Christmas activities. This is great adventure for young kids!

Tampere Festival of Light, Central Square and Frenckell Square
In 2026, the Tampere Festival of Light will be held for the 61st time. The lights will be officially switched on on Friday 23.10. The festival will continue until Epiphany 6.1.2027.
Iconic sites, such as the Town Hall, the central channel of the Tammerkoski rapids and the red-brick factory buildings of Frenckell, are illuminated in the evenings as dusk falls.
Light art based on Tove Jansson’s original illustrations will be projected onto the facades of the buildings in the western city centre and the Central Square area. The 15 light installations celebrate the first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood.
